Sudha Ragunathan learned from her mother, V. Choodamani, and spent thirteen years as a disciple of M.L. Vasanthakumari. She founded the Samudhaaya Foundation, a charity, in 1999. Her honors include the Sangita Kalanidhi (2013) and the Padma Bhushan (2015).
