Abhangs and Semi-Classical Traditions in Carnatic Music
On October 16, Abhinay Fine Arts hosted an interactive educational session led by Ranjani and Gayatri. The workshop focused on abhangs and other semi-classical forms that intersect with Carnatic music, examining how these traditions relate to classical repertoire and performance practice.
The session included demonstrations of stylistic nuances, discussion of lyrical themes, and comparisons between classical and semi-classical structures. Participants were able to engage directly with the artists, gaining insight into how these forms contribute to a broader understanding of South Indian musical traditions.
