Abhinay Fine Arts presented the Festival of Classical Dances from India on May 31, bringing together a wide range of classical dance traditions and schools from across the Puget Sound region. The festival offered audiences a rare opportunity to experience multiple Indian classical styles in one setting, showcasing the artistic depth of the community.
The program featured Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, and Odissi, with each school presenting selections representative of its lineage and training. Participating institutions included Kala Laya School, Urvasi School, Arpan, From Within, Mudra School, Manasarovar Kathak, Bala Kala Vidhaanam, Tanjavur School, Bhavana Kudikala, and Abhinay School of Dance and Music.
The event drew strong participation and reflected the growing interest in classical arts within the region. By bringing dancers of different traditions to the same stage, the festival highlighted both the individuality of each form and the shared cultural foundation that connects them.
