Abhinay Fine Arts is a Seattle-area nonprofit presenter of Indian classical music and dance. Since 2007, AFA has brought leading artists to stages across the region while creating sustained opportunities for local performers, students and audiences to experience these art forms in depth.
Our work includes concerts and dance presentations, festivals, workshops and learning programs, opportunities for regional artists, and an expanding archive of the people and performances that have shaped AFA’s history.

The Story
Built season by season.
AFA was founded in 2007 by Lakshmi Iyer & Sanjay Subramanian, with its first season of public programming beginning in 2008. What began as a commitment to bringing high-level Indian classical performance to the Seattle area has developed into a long-running presenting organization with relationships spanning artists, teachers, students, audiences and cultural partners across the region.
Over the years, visiting artists have returned to AFA stages, young musicians and dancers have grown through community programs, and initiatives such as Sangeetham have created space for the region’s own artistic community alongside touring performers.
The result is not simply a list of concerts. It is a body of work accumulated across seasons.

The people behind the program
AFA is sustained by arts organizers, artists, volunteers, donors and partners who have continued to build the organization across seasons. Some have been part of that work for years; others enter through a particular concert, program or initiative.
