Bharat Sundar: A Voice Rooted in Tradition & Spark

May 19, 2024

This spring concert brought the energetic and expressive Vidwan Bharat Sundar to Woodinville for an evening of rich, vibrant Carnatic music. A musician celebrated for both technical command and emotional accessibility, Bharat Sundar delivers concerts that feel joyful, grounded, and entirely unpretentious.

His performance on May 19th showcased exactly that—fresh, buoyant renditions of classical ragas, spirited improvisation, and the kind of vocal clarity that makes even complex phrases feel effortless.

Supporting him were Vidwan Sumesh Narayanan on the mridangam and Vidwan Sai Rakhshith on the violin, artists known for their sensitivity and sharp rhythmic instinct. Their interplay elevated the concert’s momentum, especially during the tani avartanam and the faster-paced sections that closed the program.

It was an evening that drew in long-time rasikas and new listeners alike, emphasizing the power of live music to connect, surprise, and delight.
